Love
I am so very fortunate that my angels love each other very much. There is very little sibling rivalry. They share with each other, care for each other and play with each other beautifully. I just adore how Will had to reach back and touch his brother to connect himself to him. Those two are going to be trouble someday b/c the little one just adores the big one. It is going to be endless trouble or endless heartache b/c Will is left out. I'm guessing that they will be comrades and mischief makers together - Walker just doesn't have the mean spirit to turn his brother down. Maggie . . . she's another story all together. If she isn't reigning queen of the universe around here, I don't know who is. Will does give her a run for her money - and I swear that even as a 1 year old, he knows exactly what buttons to push to agitate and upset her. Ever the drama queen, Maggie of course gets all bent out of shape over the smallest of offenses, but it is interesting to see how easily they have developed this push and push back relationship. It never is push and shove - they just test the limits with each other then come to a compromise. I pray they will all continue to be good friends as they grow up.
Our fall Family portrait
This was my first attempt at a portrait using my remote. It definitely pays to have a person behind the camera - I never thought about the glare on Erik's glasses or considered the blank space the camera would focus on between our heads. Not a great shot, but not a horrible one either. It captures our little family -and that's all that I care about these days. All of these little moments we have together. They are already getting rare. Each day I see the children growing up more and more. Will is no longer a baby - he's a toddler. Maggie is a preschooler and Walker will be 5 in 2 months! I just want to freeze time - and the only way I can is through this photography.
Texas Ranger
This is our "go to" guy. Texas Ranger is what keeps Goodness Grows Farm growing (sorry for the pun). He's a good ole' stud - he's servicing about 35 girls for us - has been at his job since July. He did the majority of his work this summer - a time when most "experts" say they won't - but judging from the fat bellies in our barn, we're guessing he did his job pretty thoroughly again this year. We only had 3 ladies not kid last year, so looks like we're in for another busy kidding season - which is going to be here before we know it! Last year we had babies mid-December. He is a really nice buck - very even tempered and never, ever mean. I used to worry about being in the barn with him b/c of his size (he's a good 350# or so) but he is very docile. Guess he knows that the ladies like a gentleman!

He's pathetic, isn't he? Poor Willie J is treated so poorly. I'm sure he will blame it all on his mother some day.
Butterball: The jail bird
This is Butterball. Her companion, Honeysuckle, was eaten by some wild animals, so Butterball lost her freedom as a free range bird and was jailed with the rest of the chickens. She never fails to jump to this perch and look out the window when she hears us. She's quite affectionate and likes her head scratched.
She's also Thanksgiving dinner.

I am able to create mini movies with my new computer using my photographs and Will and Maggie love to sit and watch themselves in movies.

Last Friday we took a hike through our property to look for signs of deer and to enjoy the last warm day of the season. It is a wonderful life we have here at Goodness Grows Farm!

Willie is in love with his dad and not a day went by last week that Will wasn't outside with his Dad doing something. This day, he worked with Erik and fell asleep in the skid loader - not wanting to give in, he kept a firm grip.
